Recycling business locating in Richwood

Mayor Scott Jerew told Richwood Village Council members at Monday night’s meeting, that a new business, TCI Alabama, LLC was to close on purchasing the former MAI building in the Richwood Industrial Park Monday.

TCI Alabama, LLC is an industry leader in recycling metals from used and obsolete oil filled electrical equipment.  They are permitted to accept equipment at any PCB level and provide state of the art disposal of EPA regulated items and also purchase electrical equipment that is non-regulated (less than 50 parts per million) regardless of size.  The company processes the cleaning materials based on the PCB content.  All items are sampled following cleaning and analyzed in their laboratory.  When it is PCB free, the items are able to be recycled and given a second life as new prodcts.

Some of the items that TCI specializes in decontamination, include commercial transformers, substation transformers, current transformers, potential transformers, associated oil, bushings, switches, oil circuit breakers, capacitors, ballasts, cable, and debris.

The company also takes used and obsolete electrical equipment that is broken down into smaller units and used as recyclable material stock for a variety of purposes.

TCI also has equipment for hauling recyclable materials, such as bulk roll-offs, flat beds, step decks, double drops, bulk tankers, and vans, and driven by trained professionals.

Jerew said that the business will need 24 to 30 workers at the local plant.

As council was glad to hear of new business coming to Richwood, they also learned that the All American Ohio-Quarter Hrse Association will be leaving Richwood, sometime after the first of the new year.  They plan to relocate to Columbus, to be near the annual Quarter Horse Congress event.
