Industry leader opens TCI of Ohio a state of the art transformer recycling plant in Richwood, Ohio
Part of the G&S Technologies family of companies the business will create 50 new jobs and establish day to day operations to support a growing customer base in the Midwest
Richwood, OH, July 25, 2018 - TCI of Ohio* recently held an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony for its new transformer recycling business in Richwood, Ohio. The facility will be used to service the company’s continued growth in the Midwest region providing customers with a safe and reliable recycling option for their obsolete oil filled transformers and other electrical equipment.
The expansion into Ohio was driven by strong growth in the Southeast and Midwest markets that were being served by TCI of Alabama. Senior management in Alabama determined more capacity was needed and chose Central Ohio for the new plant. Frank Jackson a senior manager at TCI Alabama was tapped to be president of the new facility.
“We visited a number of sites and found Union County and Central Ohio to be a perfect location for our business,” said Frank Jackson. “We received strong support from state and local leaders. There are excellent schools in the area. Columbus 2020 and Union County Economic Development were great partners throughout the process. This is a business-friendly region with a high standard of living for our employees.”
Mr. Jackson will be joined by Wade Leichner who was named Plant Manager. Mr. Leichner brings years of manufacturing and plant management experience in the chemicals and motor vehicle industries. TCI is gearing up to handle 2,000 tons of transformers and related oil-filled electrical equipment, and approximately one million gallons of oil per year. The state of the art plant and management expertise from TCI of Alabama will ensure the proper handling and disposal of EPA regulated items.

TCI of Ohio will fill 50 managerial, administrative and labor jobs with excellent pay and benefits. The economic activity metric, which assesses the job creation, income, and output, generated at the plant is estimated at $2 million annually. This includes salaries and benefits to employees, state and local tax impact and spending on local suppliers and services. The company offers potential for professional growth placing a high importance on core values like integrity and honesty.
